KOORIE Garden WORKING BEE

image16

Last Friday we had an awesome turnout after school of approximately 25 very eager kids and 20 incredibly hard working adults at our Working Bee.  The weather had looked miserable all day but the rain dried up as the school bell went and we were able to dig up the 8 garden beds in our new Koori garden and then lay 10 cubic metres of top soil.  The garden is now ready for the kids to start planting the native plants they have been selecting in class. It was hard and messy work but we were all well fed and looked after thanks to the generosity of Baker’s Delight Ashburton who provided an amazing afternoon tea. Thanks again to Bella Crowe and our Koori student ambassadors for securing the grant that provided the funding for this garden, to Brent Muller who coordinated the project and our ever present and reliable groundskeeper Roger.  A massive thanks to everyone who has played a part in this project – it has been an incredible team effort!  Well done Parkhill community!
