The Parkhill Community touch the land and think of the Wurundjeri People and surrounding Clans of the Kulin Nation who cared for the land before us.
We share our gratitude to their Elders past, present and emerging.
As we touch this land we promise to treasure it; taking care of all its people, animals, plants and waterways.
We at Parkhill appreciate this land.
Thank you.
Principal's Message
Welcome once again to 2023 back at Parkhill (or for the first time)! It has been wonderful to see the school bustling again with student energy. It is a very different place when they’re not here. Students have conducted themselves calmly and cooperatively in class, and have taken to all classes and activities with a great ‘have a go’ attitude.
Leave for two weeks
Over the next two weeks I will be heading off on leave. Our very capable leadership team will step up to supervise the school and I have every confidence that they will fulfil their roles well. Please give Andrea, Alex and Bianca a pat on the back when you see them!
Traffic on Parkhill Drive
Some of our community members have expressed great concern about traffic behaviours observed on Parkhill Drive. Cars are turning into our staff carpark, backing out into the street, and then driving on from there. Students often walk behind and may not be aware and the potential for injury is very distressing. The ideal traffic flow would be to approach from the east end of Parkhill Drive, pull up in the convenient 2 minute drop-off zone, let the children out, and then drive onwards towards the west end of Parkhill Drive. I believe the safety and wellbeing of our children is certainly worth the effort of having to drive up an extra street.
Information sessions
Our Information sessions are scheduled for next Wednesday 8th February and will be held in the classrooms. You can find out more about what happens in the class, as well as some helpful information about communication and upcoming events. There will be a brief opportunity to ask questions of teachers at the end of the presentation. It’s also a great opportunity to meet families with children in the same year level. Please come along!

Building progress
You will have noticed building projects and movement of groups over the holidays. The posts for the shade sail went in and the hall floor rectification continues. Both Rowen Street Kindergarten and VillageOSHC moved into their new areas. Plumbing repairs to LC1 have just been organised and I await further notification about the decking repair and handrail installation over the new concrete ramp.
Foundation playground
There will be no access to the Foundation playground until the works are completed. Thank you for your understanding.
Have a lovely fortnight ahead and I will see you all in two weeks!

Foundation Fun!
The Foundation students have had such a wonderful week settling into life at Parkhill. They have begun their day in their classroom mingling with their classmates and finding some fun things to do. The highlight of the week has been meeting the Y6 students who will be their buddies once we match them all up. We had such fun with inside and outside circles and asking questions to find out more about each other.

Full STEAM Ahead again in 2023
It certainly has been a busy week as children settled into their new classrooms across the school. As always in the STEAM room we started the year with our yearly self-portrait. Each year level has tackled the task using different techniques. As many of you already know, you will not get to see these creations until your child attends their graduation at the end of Y6. At this time each and every portrait will come your way to enjoy together. It has been lovely to reconnect with each child and get to know our Foundation students a little more. Check out the children in action this week.
